Artist Wandering Star Theatre Company

Title Cockeyed Caravan

Wandering Star are a Cork based theatre company made up of three core members: Aoife Clarke (producer/ stage manager), Jamie Feehily (lighting designer/ director) and Katrina Foley (director/ performer). They enjoy forming new creative relationships as much as continuing or revisiting collaborations that have been fruitful on past productions.

They produce story driven, contemporary theatre by established and emerging playwrights. Their back catalogue includes: Fleabag by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Debris by Dennis Kelly, After You Get What You Want by Emily Hutt, bedbound by Enda Walsh, Lex Talionis (A Tale of Vengeance & Feathers) by Liam Heylin and Adult Child/Dead Child by Claire Dowie.

Cockeyed Caravan is the story of a father, a son and a sort-of-son dealing with the aftermath of a crime. The play takes place in a secluded caravan in 1979 and explores themes of family, loyalty, love, loss, crime and contrition. This dark comedy approaches substantial and important themes that are juxtaposed brilliantly with humour and supernatural questions. The characters are almost stereotypical but completely relatable and the dialogue is natural and witty. From an early reading of a first draft of this new play, we felt it had huge potential, but wish to further interrogate the story, plot points and message behind the play.

The chance to present something to an audience at this early stage will allow us to check in on the project from the outside, test out public responses and potentially gain some new insight into the work.
