Artist No Kissin' Ensemble
Title Maskulinity
No Kissin’ are a Cork City based ensemble of artists making original theatre in a collaborative fashion. The work between interdisciplinary artists is our focus for creating. This process comes from the makeup of our ensemble of designers, musicians, writers and visual artists.
SLSD, directed by artistic director Hanan Sheedy, was performed at Cork Midsummer Festival, Imagine Arts Festival, Electric Picnic and Dublin Fringe Festival 2017. Hanan and composer Conor Clancy were awarded the MAKE residency 2017. Underground, created with young members of the ensemble, was produced Quarter Block Party 2019.
Director Hanan Sheedy works a lighting designer, director and facilitator with companies such as Graffiti Theatre and is currently Theatre Artist in Residence with Activate Youth Theatre at Graffiti.
The piece is in an early stage of development and originally existed as one scene from a previous project entitled Underground. This will be the first phase of development and the first showing of the new work.
The concept uses mask and movement to interrogate the change in our idea of masculinity over the past number of years. Both on a cultural and personal level. The piece will incorporate elements of multidisciplinary art including mask making, dance, theatre and original composition.
The presentation will incorporatie a number of the above elements – music, performance, mask and movement. We will share two scenes from the initial research phase of the project.
