Peter Power is a Composer, Director and Sound Designer from Waterford based in Cork. His interests are in the collaborative creation of events using music as a non-linear narrative source. He is the Artistic Director of Sparsile, a multi-genre, cross collaborative music collective and operates as an organisation built on adjacency of art forms through trans-disciplinary practices. He is Cork Midsummer Festival Artist In Residence for 2020.

Squibbs is a sound installation piece that Corcadorca have developed throughout 2019 in collaboration with Peter Power. The source material for Squibbs was a series of real conversations between a son, Andrew Lane, and his mother whose nickname was “Squibbs”. Andrew recorded over four hours of conversations with his mother, which took place when she was moving from the family home into residential care due to her terminal illness.

What unfolds is a beautiful tender and touching exchange where both Andrew and Squibbs reflect on their memories of home and discuss what will now happen to the house and its contents.

Corcadorca have previously collaborated with Peter Power on a trio of site responsive productions of short plays by Enda Walsh. Squibbs is intended for production at Cork Midsummer Festival over one weekend of the festival in 2020. The presentation at SHOW follows an earlier development residency at TDC at the beginning of 2019.
